Last column not in PowerBI or PowerQuery

Business Objects 4.2 Support Pack 6 Patch 9 has a bug.

The Excel files it produces are badly formatted. As a result, the last column from the document cannot be read from PowerBI or PowerQuery.

That is the reality I stumbled into this morning. We have several hundreds of reports, and many of those are combined together into dashboards using PowerBI and Excel/PowerQuery.

Yesterday, an upgrade was installed on our Business Objects server.. today, all tools that were built on Excel files stopped working. The errors all pointed to missing columns. But when the Excel file was opened, the column was there.

A simple test confirmed what I suspected. I added an extra column in Business Objects.. an empty one.. and indeed, now the empty column was missing.

So.. for now : Workaround = Add an extra empty column at the end of all the Business Objects files. It will probably take me the rest of the week to get this done.
